Maturity Poem by Subhadip Bhattacharya

Maturity

Take a step back from pain
Let it remain in the front
As you take a backseat.
Separated from pain.
Observe it. Scrutinize it...
At the end....
You take a different path.
Don't forget it.
But don't mention it.
It's there, in the corner
Just like the sun, the moon
The twilight sky.
Like the grand starlit night.

The loss of so many losses
In childhood memories.
In early manhood
As you lost your loved ones.
Take a step back from pain.....
Cherish it.
Like good food after a long day.
Like a smoke, a drink...
Like one would cherish
A rest of an aging body.

Maturity of a healthy body
And soul,
Separate from pain
And the body will respond to you.
