Masquerade Poem by Quasir Hassan

Masquerade

Master, How could you fall of the facade, you wore so well?
Four winters of deception, and a lifetime hell!

I never knew that this 'You' existed, until you chose to reveal,
The deity I loved for years, was but a fleeting feel.

'You crafted an illusion, a dream that I devoured,
A life we'd build together, with every waking hour.

You showed me snapshots of our home, our family, our nest,
Two copies of us, and our love, forever at rest.

I fail to fathom, who took me away from heart of thine?
Only a year ago, didn't you deem me divine?

'Don't you recall our memories, our laughter, and our tears..
The names chosen for blossoms, our hopes, our fears...
The library, where poetry and philosophy entwined;
The honey, the moon that soothed the aching mind?

Was that all a plan consciously made...
To befool a naive soul with a masquerade?
