(cont.) in Googling him today i am surprised that, though he was excommunicated by the Pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Holy Roman Emperor., his death many years later is described as peaceful by his bedside confessor. could the mention of gold have to do with RC church indulgences, which ML opposed? In the weeks leading up to his death, Luther seems to have had a premonition that he would pass away soon. Many of his statements from that time emphasize that death is the great equalizer. In this, Luther’s attitude mirrors that of his contemporaries in the wake of the Black Death (1347 and after) . Martin Luther is a famous modest man, a gifted professor in theology, a talented composer, a devotional priest, a simple serving monk, and the key figure in the Reformation has translated the Holy Bible which can be read now by all people in the world.
