Those two questions at the end of the poem are its salt and pepper! You have precisely described, in vivid details, the three stages of a married couple! Wonderful!

Why doubt..... I am still in stage one! How sad... you are eternally stuck in stage two! Hopefully you will pass on to stage three after some years, Bri! Ha...Ha! !

The three stages are beautifully presented. If a marriage can reach the last stage we can conclude that a true closeness is achieved.

hahaha so nicely you have explained these stages.....not sure if love has come back, may be they are dependant on each other, know each others flaws, have accepted each other the way they are, now is that love? Good write Mam

Youthful hormones did once make them blind And love held them both together in a bind Then the harsh desert of life's travails gone by With fond memories hold both in a celestial tie.................. Excellent write up Madam.

Oh how I love it when I see the elderly holding hands. That is real love. A great way to put marriage into the 3 stages. If some read this it might turn them off marriage. You brought a smile. Love it! Oh.. I have my T shirt on.
