Marooned (Part 5 Of 6) Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

Marooned (Part 5 Of 6)

Rating: 5.0

[Continued from part 4]

Some of the other women
had noticed that Jessica and Rini
had written poems just for me

and then it seemed that suddenly
many more of them were interested
in the only man on the island

Sandra scribbled serenely for some
time in her notebook, then tore out
a page and brought it to me. It said:

If Love Appears

You're the Ten
In my life,
My poetry
My guide
My loving cheer,
How not to love you
If your melody
Thru my days
You slide,
Like golden waters
And inspirational,
Tide.

I could see Susan in the shade
of a huge tree, writing for a long
time. Finally she brought me a poem:

My Heart was Mended Today

My tattered heart was mended today
and my life has no longer gone astray.
I received a beautiful love-note bouquet
and now my heart is having itself a soiree.
You promised we'll be together some lovely day
and embrace on a flower-strewn pathway.

So I gladly lay my head on silken pillow tonight
to think of you and I under a star-sprinkled night.
I bathe my lonely heart in the solitary candlelight
but I lie here in hope that I'll whisper goodnight
and embrace you, my love, in tomorrow's moonlight.

In the morning I shall rise and watch for you
coming to me amid the song of mourning dove coo.
Oh, don't you know I could never wish you adieu
that I could never say farewell to a love so true.

I'd give my kingdom for you if it would engage
one more lover's sigh on our journal's page
Or one more night with you it would presage.

In the meantime I lie here alight at midnight,
my heart and my eyes waiting ever bright.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was published earlier under a different title.
It had very few readers so I am posting it again
to give it another chance.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The events take an interesting turn! Ron, your mastery over poetry is beyond doubt. You do imitate the styles of Sandra and Susan so well. But, you are a foll, Ron. Susan has written the poem for me. With me alone in her mind!
