[Continued from part 2]
one of the other poets heard
her suggestion and immediately
went to the fire pit for some charcoal
and wrote the following poem
on a slab of bark from
one of the trees:
I need no expensive ball gown,
or extravagant nights on the town.
You will have my whole heart
if right from the start
you just put the toilet seat down!
she winked at me
and dropped the charcoal
and walked away with a sway
what just happened here
I wondered, dumbfounded
because our toilet had no seat
just then Jessica picked up
the charcoal and walked over
to one of the trees still standing
and wrote this poem on the trunk:
I do not love you, but I could
Will you let me try?
Open your heart to me,
show me your soul
Tell me your joys
and your sorrows in full
I do not love you, but I would
Will you let me?
I could see all the wonders of the world,
I could gaze into the heavens above
But nothing compares to every moment
I spend with you my love
I do not love you, alas don't you see?
I could love you, but could you love me?
Wow, Jessica! I thought.
I think I could. I'm sure I could.
There's no question. I know I could!
[To be continued in part 4]
I love 'away with a sway'! Where is my name, my claim to fame? I think Jessica's poem was for me; I'm SURE it was. And, I DO put the toilet seat down, unless I'm using it....of course. 5 stars. ;)
