Why must you decide you need to speak, to speak to me? Talk to him. I crave peace...... so touching with nice theme. We need peace actually. A lovely poem nicely executed. Thanks for sharing.
M.J., call me crazy, but it sounds like the narrator is speaking to his current mate about her former lover. No wonder Arctic glaciers abound! Great imagery! And as always, another winner! ! !
Richard, you are absolutely right. It certainly can be a meaningful reading of the poem. The interpretation you bring up is one that came to mind after I finished this version. That was when I decided it was ready. Thanks so much.
The choice to speak or remain silent is ours. But it's not always easy to decide what to do. A lovely expression to depict a dilemma.
Thank you so very much, Nosheen. And then, you remind me, there are those times when words should be spared, but the opposite is willfully and defiantly undertaken...
perseverance ere the coming dawns... do not morn... same things happen here morn after morn... all women need is to be adorned and of that be forewarned they smile only and make funny faces come along now it's okay by me now sweety... you have become mine this dawn's darling
The malady of the modern man, when to keep silent is the courteous thing to do, when frustration coils down inside the spine. I think I have worked with the people your talking about! . I love your style in confessional modernity, it reminds me of the best stuff of Anne Sexton, in which your power of description in just a few short words, translates a thousand ideas and images, like this classic maybe a day later to a world so iced over as if it had robbed the Arctic's glaciers Could easily conjure up the end result of bad communication, or the détente of a fight with a significant other after that I crave peace too. Great work
Wow! Anne Sexton....Thank you so much. And yes, as you say, this is all about that malady.... I am really enjoying your work, and I'll be visiting again soon....Looking so much forward to what's new.
I sense the obvious irritation of the speaker here who feels duped by a kind of infidelty from his partner! So he is not prepared any more to listen to any talk with her for the time being. He would rather have peace by moving away to a solitary spot! It is clear that no love is lost between the husband and wife. An inner agitation is strongly hinted at!
Valsa, indeed. And it is that inner turbulence with a peaceful veneer. Thanks so much.
