Man Violates Mother Earth Poem by Paul Sebastian

Man Violates Mother Earth

By sweat of his brow he ploughs the ground
Hoping, in due season, to reap a harvest
Caringly he tends the seeds he had sown
Mother earth yields, bearing his interest

Incessant destruction of vegetation
Brought man to himself, deprivation
For his advancement, wrought deforestation
Industrialization, pollution, ozone depletion

By own volition he poisoned the air
As a receptacle of industrial pollutants
Created the green-house-effect flare
Heat and diseases, as his inheritance

Man violates ecological balance
Begetting floods, crop destruction
Global warming, swelling oceans
Weather changing; tsunami's devastation

Yet, does man care for Mother Earth?
Absence of concerted environmental care
Man has willed, hastening his own death
Would vengeful Earth's response, be unfair?

Man forsakes Mother Earth for economics
Clamouring for wealth, he forgets his birth
Preferring industrialization to agronomics
Mother Earth wails, yet man's not bothered

Wither man's Mother Nature's conservation
Man's selfish priorities wither man
Racing towards his own annihilation
Mother Earth's womb opens for man's return
