Man Is Not Great Poem by Hebert Logerie

Man Is Not Great

A man is not great, because of the majestic skyscrapers
That he rents, leases or owns. Because of the computers
That he advertises or possesses. A destitute is great
Because of his thoughts, for the beauty of his heart
For the love and the compassion that are shared
The stunning response to greed is vanity. Man is dared
Every second of the day by sickness and by death
At the end of the journey, there will not be anything left
Because man owns nothing. Mother Nature simply lends
And man borrows everything under the sun. Man simply bends
When the oxygen is gone and the strength is no more
The sky is the roof; there is no window, and no door
As is often says: "man is living on borrowed time"
A man or woman, who's still breathing, is at his or her prime
Man is not really great; only the Almighty God is
The mystery is beyond ideas, thoughts and comprehension
Man is a greedy and narrow-minded traveler who is teased
By ambition, ignorance, selfishness, vanity and inaction
Man can only be content, not satisfied, and not happy
Gravity is constantly watching, monitoring all the moves
While a Divine Being is gently turning, tightening the screws
And surreptitiously sucking, shrinking the air out of the body
Man was born impecunious, and shall return the same darn way
Don't believe the glitters or the nonsense. Man is like the wind
Man is as important as the bird and the dog. The moving sand
Is waiting. Man is waiting to be vanished or disappeared any day.
