Malembe Malembe. Poem by Thabani Khumalo

Malembe Malembe.

Malembe Malembe.
Today in a nebulous number of days to come,
I see that my people have carried too much hatred from the dark side
of a lie of the world and that it is causing them pain
by illnesses beyond the doctor's control.

Malembe Malembe.
I am moved by a burning compassion towards their burdening grief,
So I will cancel their iniquity by breaking its yoke,
condone their transgression to its faults
and forgive all their sin from its fearful source.

Malembe Malembe.
I will cleanse their souls by love in blood and water.
I will rectify their spiritual source by invoking the greatest ancestor
and lead them all by my guiding star back to me -
back home to Barmby where they will again live a holy life...

Listen to me and conceive the words of a loving mother.
Malembe Malembe.
