Main Man Poem by Luke Joseph Mckernan

Main Man

Yet we are all connected, tied by blood and ties,

In the depth of our hearts, where love never dies.

Your powerful father, with tears in his eyes,

Embraced me, his son, with a heartfelt surprise.

Can you recall a time when you felt this way?

When gratitude overwhelmed you, like the breaking of day?

He may have just met me, but his emotions run deep,

In his heart, a bond forms, strong and steep.

For I've brought new life to those he cherishes most,

And as he thanks me, his voice is choked with a ghost.

A simple act of helping with a coat,

Creates a memory that will forever float.

For every person lives their own unique tale,

With different jobs, and loves that prevail.

But beneath it all, we are kin, intertwined,

In the tapestry of life, our stories combined.

So let our hearts remember, in times of strife,

That we are all connected, in this dance called life.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My children's grandfather met me for the first time. This poem was written about our first encounter and how it made his own children think about the non existent relationship they have with their own farther.
