M & D Poem by Stefan Splawinski

M & D

come travel with me far and wide
pin-up girl of the works canteen
my sweet conductress of few cares
ticket clippie from borough green

keeping kent moving at daybreak
early breakfast of beans on toast
we have so much in common us two
taking our omnibuses to the coast

the working mans ideal of beauty
my darling of the dawntime shift
paths crossing at postley works
romantic plans that came adrift
