Love's Betrayal Poem by April Humason

Love's Betrayal

Once, you were my joyride,
Together, we soared, side by side,
Inseparable, none could outride,
A love denied, yet we defied,
But alas, love lied.

Now I dwell on the outside,
Answers evade, on the backslide,
Contemplating forever, confide,
Caught in a landslide,
Where happiness died,
Leaving me broken, cast aside.

Tomorrow bears no downside,
Decisions, no clear guide,
As blame multiplies, nationwide,
Injustice fuels a raging hate,
Melting my heart like liquid, wide,
And clouding my mind, mystified.

Once, you were my joyride,
My ride or die, forever tied,
A bond where loneliness can't reside,
But love lied, leaving tears beside,
Now I'm living on the outside.
