Love Was All There Was Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

Love Was All There Was

Love Was All There Was

Come as innocence once betrayed,
The world in its true state,
Decked sampaguitas and garlans on her hair and neck.

That i may wander free
Like the ever exalted mists in the mornings.
That is not true in my generations of servitude.

The years will prove me false or vain.
The ink that stained the passing marks,
As a stranger entering your gates.

Compare notes then
Judgments, the ice the polar hides in their sleeves.

Our credits however remained,
That man was in her maiden trust,
Our hearts like children, were unencumbered with man acquisitions,

Love was all there was for you and me,
When we were young.
