How can I keep my soul in me, so that
it doesn't touch your soul? How can I raise
it high enough, past you, to other things?
I would like to shelter it, among remote

Such a beautiful poem! The poetic ocean is still so unexplored in its depth. Just happy to come across another great poet and his poetry.

A beautiful picture of how love makes us all a part of Something much larger, and better, than we are by ourselves.

I first read this poem when translated by Herter Norton. And fell in love with it.

Of the four translations I have read, only the one by J. B. Leishman resonates with me in an unforced way.

Rainer Maria Rilke, is known for his dark verses... The Duino Elegies, being his greatest work. Here, in this poem on love, his forebodings are once again relevant. I enjoyed reading it.

A dark love song. Almost as if he resented the closeness he felt toward her.

While searching for the truth of the things through the antagonism between beauty and suffering, or between life and death, the poet Rainer Maria Rilke found the music of love in the German folk songs. His violin had ''two separate strings'' to vibrate for one voice (the return to the first Adam) . ''God created all things (John 1: 1–3; Colossians 1: 15–20; Hebrews 1: 2) ]. The man and the woman entwined to have a spiritual communion with God. The ''violin's bow'' was an instrument used by God to touch the souls for this unique vibration of love. Much more than a song, love can change everything around.Wonderful poem. Voted 10.

So profound the miraculous power of depicting the ultimate. Words perhaps follow the genius to give them strength of expounding meaning again which has been strengthless by overuse by random talking ! Great post by PH. Thanks.
