Love makes the world go flat,
Sparkling seascapes sweeping out
From rolling downs of wide horizons.
Shimmering skies absorbing eyes.

I like the name Wild Flower. My garden is full of them, not to mention the frogs sunbathing on stones near the pond! Must check out your poems soon.
Wonderful. I too very often long to be embraced by absolute silence, having to put up with too much noise these days (right now there's a van going about with a megaphone blaring endlessly about their fresh-from-the-farm eggs!) . I will rate it with a 10, though I know Tom doesn't need my points, having already busted the scales. On second thought, if the blokes from 'Spinal Tap' did manage to go to 11 in their amps, why can't we go to 7 here? Will have to talk to the webmaster about that. Only drawback: now I'll have to keep on reading more of Tom's poems, just when I had it in my mind to sit down to work! ... Rod
Hi Rod, just you wait, I've drafted out five of Alejandro's poems. I'll give you the day off tomorrow! Generous of me. But we'll blame Alejandro, He's a really great poet. Intoxicating!
Love is so grand.so vast- - - - -Wonderful poem of love- - - - - - Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Bharati. It can be all-encompassing, And even, though she died, love carries on and on.
Irresistible title and great poem, Tom. First time I have ever seen the word 'orison' in a poem also, but had no trouble with it because it is similar to both the Spanish and Portuguese words for prayer. oración (Spanish) oração (Portuguese) I like the idea of love making the world go flat, in other words making it easier to get to your loved one. I will be reading more of your poems.
so that's what did it! ! ! now to read the poem-with-the-catchy-title. ========================= i don't recall ever hearing of this word. maybe i should have paid more attention in church? ? or·i·son ˈôrisən, -zən, ˈär-/ nounarchaic noun: orison; plural noun: orisons a prayer. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - if i read it straight through, i like the sound of it. but i confess i don't think i understand it. does love overpower things around it to the point of making the Earth seem flat? or meaningless? or does flat mean boring, rather than meaning f'lat as in a two-dimensional object [if there really is such a thing]? ? even a piece of flimsy paper has a thickness after all, so isn't it three-dimensional as well? hmm? :) i think i've always had some 'trouble' with the word love. i use it very sparingly for people i love, and more liberally when referring to ice cream and birds. bri :)
Church was not a place I visited as a child! And only for Weddings etc since, tho I married a Vicar's daughter. How weird is that. The use of the word Flat has two uses. First and as you craftily pointed out for a catchy title! Second in the sense of disappearing background as the madness of love overtakes the lovers! also flat can be taken as boring in the sense of as of little consequence. But your first instinct was right. A virtual bottle of champagne for the lad! Tom
thank you, Shrutika. I got your message about your age. Well, you have exhibited an extraordinary talent. I'm an ancient bird but no more a wise owl than you. Never be afraid to experiment with your verse. It's fun to try out different styles. In a sense your age doesn't matter. To me you are a very fine fellow poet. Tom Billsborough

A good play on words 'love makes the world go round'. You suggest the negative side of love in a tour de force.
