Love In The Hiding. Poem by Bharati Nayak

Love In The Hiding.

Rating: 4.8

Love in the Hiding.

How come
My words dry
When I try
To write a love poem!

Why
The seeds
Refuse to sprout
Even in the care
Of fertile earth?

Why
The birds do not sing
Even when the dawn
Breaks into crimson?

Where did my love go?
Is it hiding in a secret cell
Or has it beenbanished
From my circle?

No,
Love can not go.
Perhaps it has fossilized
Deep under the earth crust
And some day
It will bloom
As a crimson flower
On the head of a grass blade.

My dear Bharati, I do not think it went away. I think it is in every poem you write. You love writing- and it shows. You write love poems to the world- even when you might be scolding the bad actors in life. Your love is always there, beneath the surface at times, but it is still there and we can feel its presence. Write on, you give us heart! ! 10+++++

I like this, but my " love" for at least one of my three former wives DID " go" , i know not where. And I also did " go" , ...on to my next wife, now with my fourth. Life is 'full of" WHYS. Why? Don't ask me! ! ! I especially enjoyed your last stanza. to MyPoemList bri ;) Writing love poems are not my forte, nor do usually care much for them. ;)

Dear Bharati, you touch on something in this poem I think I have felt. What to do? There’s waiting of course; it’s rare for me to “plan” a poem; typically I wait for inspiration then get it down. And perhaps our love poems will take different forms—like this poem of yours which is indeed a love poem that expresses the longing to sing/praise the love you feel deserved by the belovèd. -Glen
