Love Growing Cold. Poem by duke perry abrokwa

Love Growing Cold.

In shadows of doubt, my heart does reside,
A tale of love, where feelings confide.
But alas, my love, you remain aloof,
Leaving my heart feeling used, like a painful truth.

I gave you my all, my heart unmasked,
Hoping for a love that would forever last.
Yet your words are scarce, like whispers in the wind,
Leaving me wandering, lost and chagrined.

Do you not see the love in my eyes?
Do you not hear the pleas in my sighs?
I long for affection, for your love to profess,
But instead, I'm left feeling lesser, feeling less.

Used, like a pawn in your game of disguise,
My love for you, a flame that still tries.
But how long can this fire continue to burn,
When your love for me, I yearn and yearn.

Perhaps I'm a fool, caught in a trance,
Hoping that one day, you'll take a chance.
To proclaim your love, to hold me tight,
And dissolve the darkness that fills my nights.

For now, I'll gather my strength deep within,
And find the courage to let go of this sin.
To release the chains that bind my heart,
And find a love that will never tear me apart.

Though feeling used, I'll rise above the pain,
For in love, there's more to gain.
I'll find a love unabridged and true,
One that will never make me feel used.

So farewell, my love, in this bittersweet part,
I'll heal my wounds, and mend my heart.
And someday, I'll find a love to hold,
A love that's sincere, a love that's bold.
