Love Dream Poem by D A Phinney

Love Dream

Who said guys don't like you
You did
But what if my dream sang
Some serenade to yours
What if they found each other
And knew each other so completely
They shared of themselves
Merged and became alike
Like an old familiar couple
Grown together
If your dreams were no longer yours
My dreams no longer mine
But were always open
Belonging partly to the other
Would that be love
A healing that leaves us undone
From what we once were
Or an always-open wound
That somehow makes us whole
Just another form of bleeding
Crying our tears of blood
Drinking each other's tears
Hearts pumping into each other
Our lives mingling in scents
And tastes and flavors
In the way we see and hear
And how we feel
Joining, losing ourselves to become
Some new and different creature
Whose parts are always striving
To become that new thing
Trying to melt into a dream
To become real
