Love Bomb Poem by Kevin Patrick II

Love Bomb

Coming in hot with the stealth of Boeing
You flew under the radar of my suspicions
Setting a course to my vulnerability
Until I was a sitting duck for your charm
Then you aimed your nuclear affections
Delivering a payload of thoughtful cruelty
That left me with ashes of incinerated lusts
Because I wasn't your one just another milk run

Oh sweet heart, thank you for Hiroshima
It was incredibly kind, to put me on cloud 9
But I don't think that mushroom was worth it
Now I'm picking up the pieces of your ruins
While your flying high in your super fortress
Looking for fresh bait you call a soulmate
But how many bodies do your need to destroy
Just so you can say they leave you complete?

Thank you for the pedestal you put my ego on
Then having the courtesy to knock me down
It was rewarding when you were my warden
Enthralling my pride with a leash and a collar
Until I was dancing to the tune of your moods
One minute your hero the next one a zero
Until making your exit for the next ex to hit
Another fatality of your course trajectory

You took the blue sky and made it a carpet
For me to feel high on the air of your flattery
Until you grew bored and pulled it from me
Falling into the canyon of your past conquest
Should have been careful with my intuition
Knowing your sweetness would only turn sour
Thought I was special and the cure to your blues
But I guess I was just Mr. Tuesday for you

Spun me to the alter as a minor deity
Praised to the heavens in quick abandonment
Sucker punched me on a thrown of vanity
Until you left me to pay for hubris's bill
Now I run to the shelter when I hear love
Knowing the craters it leaves in a heart
But you are not Shiva, destroyer of worlds
Just a G rated Bundy, in snake oiled cologne
