Oh you'e a marvelous poet.And believe me this criminal inexcusable practice that parades/masquarades as a respectable honored tradition is a sham and a fake.It perssts in rural South Africa too.I know.My own sister was a victim of the same criminal traditionalists.God bless you

@Sharon Smith - I think it is against our human sense of what is right -therefore it is wrong. We have not made it illegal, it disturbs what is inherently in us. It was a tradition based on misguided and warped interpretation of religion/human laws. Killing daughters just because they had fallen in love and have fiances is wrong - it does not affect a father's honor in any way so he has no moral or legal right to take their life away. Injury to another, specially a child, is morally WRONG. Giving her away for marriage before she can even take care of herself is WRONG. We do not need to make it illegal as it is basically wrong ab initio.

This poem brings forth the contrast between, what we call illegal, and what another country calls 'tradition'. Is it wrong? Or is it wrong because we have made it illegal and have been brought up believing it is wrong? I myself, think it is very sad. A thought provoking piece Cynthia! ! Regards...Sharon.
