Lost At Sea
I am here
I am not lost at sea
Can't you see me?
Look deeper
Layers are covering me
to protect me from my fear
but I am still here
as I struggle to get free
Where am I? You ask
I am here
Please look for me
For if you give up
I will be gone forever
in this tidal wave of movement
my scent only left to linger

Yes, protecting yourself can keep you alone and away from those who care. They need to reach for you. Very nice water metaphor.
