Lose, Lost, Outta Pocket Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Lose, Lost, Outta Pocket

I lost you
Overzealous in the moment.
I put you somewhere I thought
I'd never lose you.
Lint aside, it was just for a moment.
I checked making sure that you
Were still by my side,
Rearranging and making room for you
so you'd be comfortable.
I had my cigarettes, my phone, my keys
But no sign of you.
I searched frantically almost flipping
my pants inside out in front of
everyone.
I thought of every place I could have
dropped you.
Even misplaced you,
You have no idea how bad I felt.
I stayed up for days looking for you.
For a minute I thought you had got
tangled up in my keys.
Your sense of humor being one
Of the key things I love about you.
Now that I think about it
I did feel a shift in my pocket.
Now that I think really hard about it,
There is nothing to really think about.
There's nothing worse than that heart
wrenching feeling of thinking that you
lost something.
Even worse, realizing that there was
nothing to lose in the first place.
Your sense of humor,
One of the reasons I double check
My pockets.
On second thought,
There's nothing to dwell about
