Reading this poem, I feel our childhood experiences have been almost similar and our pastimes as children were more or less the same! I remember, in front of my ancestral home there was a wide stretch of paddy fields and small canals of water flowed in between. They were so full of minnows and similar small fish and slimy frogs. Catching them was our pleasure! Once the harvest was over, the paddy fields would be dry and over them, hundreds of dragon flies could be sighted hovering around! I am once again hurled back to those exciting childhood days by your poem! Thanks Savita!
Wonderful imagery on childhood memories filled with beauteous wonders of nature came back looking at dragon fly has been presented so nicely and aptly. Thrilling expression with stunning phraseology. Thanks for sharing.......10
didn't i already comment? ! ! i know i've read and liked this, AND it is supposed to be in October's 'a showcase for PH poets, Section B', which is a 'poem' on my list of poems at # 50. my favorite lines: In afternoons mounds of dirt in empty fields Were huge to our eyes for trekking expeditions. .......... i have also thought about how much some ………………………………..things looked to my eyes as a child. like the house i grew up in from age 3 to age 16. AND We picked frogs and worms with slimy skins Jumping in excitement as they slipped away................. these lines remind me of times i had with …………………………………………………Nature's creatures. but i was MORE apt to jump when a.......................................................non-poisonous snake (rarely) bit me! but they jumped even more when I BIT THEM! Thanks to Savita (and Valsa) for sharing. sorry i'm tardy in getting this into showcase. bri :) this also deserves a place in MyPoemList.
