Look Straight Into Your Heart's Mirror Poem by Mohammad Younus

Look Straight Into Your Heart's Mirror

Look straight into your heart's mirror—
you won't see your reflection,
but your reality—your True Self.
Yet, you cannot see it,
unless you slide off the curtains.

How did we become diverse from one another?
Is it our outer differences?
Is it because we follow the evil nafs?
Or is this the life we chose to live?
The life we were taught to live?
The life we were meant to live?

What is this inner self we see in the mirror?
Is it our basic nature, the one we were born with?
How should we live so that our self
aligns with our True Self?
Or are we destined to be different?
One group for hell, another for paradise?
Or do we write our destiny here?

Why this battle between the evil nafs and the good nafs?
These are the questions of an innocent, inquisitive mind,
peering through the lenses to see the reality of life.
When we become mature enough to understand
the paradox of Absolute Unity,
all such questions will be erased from our minds.
