I see through the lens of yesterday
And here is what is shown:
Whatever was; whatever 'maybe' was;
And whatever I have known.
I see these news-clips of past times
That are still in my memory
I sample a bit of their reflections-
Which are reflected back at me.
They both dazzle and discombobulate me
These images of past years,
Yes, they comfort me as I see old times-
But they replay also some of my tears.
Reside I do. Review them too-
Since these clips mean much to me.
Yes,
Never shall I witness
nor ever shall I know
A smarter way to sop up the gravy of past life
Then to partake of the pains once long ago.
