Long-Abandoned Love

Long-abandoned Love
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)

It's a propitious time to resume
Long-abundoned and half-forgotten love
With new vigour and robustness
Together with imminent monsoon rain
Downpour will lave and scrub
Accumulated grime and soot
In long-neglected hearts of lovers
Through the passage of severence and detachment
Puddle of rain will soften the impenetrable flinty heart
With its delicate and foamy prod
New flower of love will bloom
Spreading its enchanting redolence
Over the parched and shrivelled garden of love
Birds of love will fly in the sky
Flapping their tender pinions
Whispering the new message of love
For the moribund mankind of this arid globe
Lovers will soar in the sky
Like wandering foamy clouds
Murmuring new tune of love
In the brilliant and vibrant rainbow
Heartless and frigid world will change a bit, and
Forsaken beloved will never miss
Her lover's amorous and passionate kiss
