Lonely Moment Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Lonely Moment

Lonely moment

There is something subliminally beautiful about solitude,

when space and time for you are secluded,

your volume completely surrounded by yourself,

like a library book forgotten on a demolished library shelf,

whose silent chapters envelope the whole space.

Truths and lies in this state come face to face,

full of memories and stories blank to your mind.

There are many shades and hues of loneliness,

sleep, comma, lone walk, detention, but the best kind,

is when you lie six feet under on your way to His Holiness.

The best of the best of a lonely moment,

far far away from all worldly comment.

When you are tired of the din, the sin, the torment,

embrace the endless quietude of this lonely moment.

Beautiful sentiments on loneliness, as contrasted with solitude. Yes, even in this crowded world, one still feels lonely, and in these COVID times more so.
