Loneliness Poem by Phil Soar

Loneliness

My landline never rings
Just my mobile phone

Unknown international calls
I don't bother to answer

Hoax phising scams
Texts from advertisers

My doorbell doesn't ring
The watchtower geeks pass by

I sit on the porch
If the weather permits

I watch the youngsters play
And the squirrels avoid them

They climb the trees
And so do the squirrels

I wonder if they meet
As they scurry along the branches

These are quiet times for me
No phone, no visitors

The only call I answer is the call of nature
And I flush my soul away
