Lola and Hauser (For Carmen)
You're right. A light, a waltz
erupts from his eyes,
strange words of masculine gender
for the most beautiful name: Woman.
His cello is slender,
strings is soft as the finest cotton,
and the string gently as a sly smile
until a storm erupted from it.
The cello is, in my language, neuter
for the great, feminine name: Lola.

Lola i Hauser (Za Karmen)
U pravu si. Iz njegovih očiju
izbija svjetlost, valcer,
čudne riječi muškog roda
za najljepše ime: Žena.
Njegovo violončelo je vitko,
strune meke kao najfiniji pamuk,
a gudalo nježno kao sjetni osmijeh
sve dok iz njega ne izbije oluja.
Violončelo je čudna, muškog roda
za sjajno, žensko ime: Lola.
