Live For God's Sake Poem by Mick Law

Live For God's Sake

And if it all ends
And the promise was from falseness given
If all the world is so small and meaningless
If hope was just a word
Then I say to you and all that follow
Live the minute and squeeze and drain every dropp of applause,
Every ounce of stimulation from this short pantomime
Think not of why you cannot, only of when you will
Deny the false god of tomorrow and drink greedily from today
Give pleasure where you may but take it in full at every turn
All is vanity the prophet said, then be vain, be selfish and claw your way to ecstacy
Live, wake, sleep only as a means of gain
Accept no pain, scorn anger then smile coldly and grasp the next high
Live for God's sake and stop rehearsing
If i should die then think only this of me
That I really lived........honest I did.............
I did......... I did.....didn't I?
