Liu Zhongyong: Year After Year, The Gold River Or Jade Gate Pass Frontier

Lament of the Conscripted Frontier Soldier
-- Liu Zhongyong (circa late 700's/early 800's)

Year after year, the Gold River or Jade Gate Pass frontier --
Day after day, my trusted war horse and long sword fore'er.
In late Spring, when the white snow melts all the green tombs reappear;
Endless Yellow River flows round the Black Mountains, come whate'er!
