Regally he lies like the sphinx in Pharaoh's eyes.
By the gateway facing North
he waits his beloved to come forth.
Riley is a rabbit of some renown,
though some neighbours frown
to have their flowers oft cut down.
His wanderings - questings for a mate?
take him far; he comes back late.
He scampers hither for his banana -
which is his twice-daily manna.
But only for his beloved will he bleat,
will he sound his glee, and anyone can see,
he prefers that touch from he,
who is his saviour, master and honey sweet.
