Little Bird Poem by Terry Rovert

Little Bird

Rating: 5.0

Sing all you want
Fly around but within this cage
I can't set you free. I can't set you free lest I lose you
If only you knew why it has come to this
If only I knew too
But if this is how close we will ever be, then I play the master
And you the slave, at the price of your hatred

I can't do this forever
I can't watch your beautiful colors waste away
I want to set you free
If only you promise to remember me
I mean remember me from before
But how can I believe you now
When you can stack anything for your freedom
When you can stack anything to move away from me

Now fly away my little bird
You deserve better
Fly in the blue skies
Sing in the trees
Fly and live the dream
I really hope you forget me
If it puts a smile on your face
I can't wait to see you smile again
Maybe this way was meant to be

Beautiful melodies you sang

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem seeks to capture efforts to hold on, bring back or relive a romantic love that was shared in the past. As the love became one sided, severe efforts were taken but they failed to regain what was lost. Eventually, letting go was the most beautiful act to show the love that remained.

Nicely conceived and wonderfully brought forth from the heart. An insightful piece of poetry written with conviction.
