Listening To The Many Poem by james watkin

Listening To The Many

Listening to the many
And not to the one
Turned away from, as close
Mirrors doubts, dislikes
Would seem, on the face of it
Weak, docile action;
Even puerile. When in fact
As self-defeat strikes.

World, that has a voice, implies
A distracting noise
Luscious-lipped, and as smooth
Opportunism pleads
Charms out of conscience, whispered
That lawful to hear.
That as right, off life's calling
Down its dark road leads.
