AN OLD SINGER OF HIS OWN LONG SONG - that is a wonderful self projection! You can be gratified you articulated your own - perhaps final - self-image so clearly and completely. The four phrases at the end which define your humanity are precious and quietly triumphant. BTW I ended a poem with a projection of the self I want to be. It goes:
I will be just zealous man
who loves silence praying
in an empty catholic church.
And this old man will know
from years of silent prayer
how it hurts is how it heals.
(Notice the c in catholic is lower case!)
