There are several methods to getting to the point where logic breaks down. Then, you have to make an educated guess and have lots of paper. Sometimes; especially when it is 50/50, you finish the puzzle if correct. Sometimes you have to make other such decisions to finish. I end up making mistakes when I go to fast. I am far from perfect, but I enjoy the diversion.
I have been playing sudoku long enough to never have to guess one of two numbers.left on a square. There is always a way to be sure and I must find it. I sometimes have to take a pick but that counts as a loss

Not sure I understand your theory about the 'snares'. I have been enjoying Sudoku for years. There is always a way to determine which number goes where. The secret is to not be in a hurry, and only fill in the blanks when you are certain.
exactly there is always a way to be certain if you try to do say all the twos there is sometimes more than one way to disperse them and that is what I mean by a snare go the wrong way and you can never win .. hence smiling (gotcha) joeur Sudoku is the site I use
