this DOES sound so familiar! ! ! ! did Longfellow write it? come on, tell the truth! ! to MyPoemList. i also plan to use it in August's showcase. bri ;) poor, poor Digger, the little digger!
Thank you! Oh Longfellow never wrote Limericks..And sad to say the lawn mower people mowed poor little Digger's village down and the mole gave up..no more dirt mounds in the neighbor's yard..
There are quite a few limericks about moles..Shakespeare also wrote limericks, some were included in his plays.....I just researched on line..
I didn't find any poems similar to mine on line.Just to let you know I write my poems and there are times when they are difficult to write..Sometimes I post them on Facebook but most of them are on PoemHunter..
Alas! Rest in peace little digger...... though limerick, the poem is wisely penned, loved, thanks for sharing the poem with us, +++++++++++++ 10
Seems to me to be perfect limerick. The poor Digger couldn't reap the benefits of his/her industry! Loved the humor in the sorrow.
Lovely humorous limerick! The mole seems a workaholic that never bothers about a purpose of life.
Cool Limerick. 😃 thanks. The day needs brightening time to time.
Aha I dig this poem. Fantastic Limerick u thought up, thanx fir the poetic fun this morning. Kudos. Pleez do write your thoughts under my newest poem too, titled, dark skinned vs fair skin, I would love to hear your views
Loved the Limerick. A perfect one. So sad, poor Digger was overworked and died!
Digger still digs and is very much alive despite the fact that the lawn mower people mowed down Moleville twice. It is one persistent little critter..Right now the little mole is stopped by the curb and just makes its mole hills along the edge..
Lorraine, this is going, very soon, into my/(our) August showcase. Thanks. bri :) p.s. i usually never see responses, typed on other poets' poem pages, to my poem comments. i only see yours now because i came back to leave the new comment. Thanks. i'd say we have gophers (of some sort) , as there are sometimes dirt mounds a foot across and almost as high! could moles be so industrious! ?
