It's touching not funny, I didn't smile, I became sad. well wrote Valsa George.
A sensitive topic brilliantly manged by the poet. beautiful limerick.
There is so much sensitivity in this limerick, so accurate your description.
People saw her as blight! Thanks for sharing this peom with us.
Let her be a wraith. There is movie by that name I remember/ Good limerick.
Refreshing to read a Limerick on a serious subject. We rely too much on rumour and first impressions. A deep message in a beautifully constructed Limerick. Well done, Valsa.
Valsa. You are a tremendous surprise! ! You write poetry like the Climber and the Soliloquy of a Banyon Tree AND you write limericks... ummmmmm, WoW! Personally, I could not write a limerick if my life depended on it. You, HOWEVER, do not write a funny verse here- -you have boldly stepped forward and written a very provocative limerick that is a powerful piece of literature. Oh, I do hope to see more of this style of limerick. Maybe we could call it a Valsarick! A 10 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ of course.
Susan, I am bowled over by your comment.... When I wrote it, I didn't mean much... I only wanted to say that a woman who deviates from the accepted norms is unfortunately held in the grid of suspicion....! You gifted readers have given it deeper dimensions.... Thank you so much for this highly uplifting comment!
I agree with al the esteemed poets below. I must add that similar biases can be made about men as well
Question is simple, just on the surface. Truth may be no where near that. Thought provocative and to me its more humane than being funny. Thanks Valsa for the limerick on a humanity issue.
Though, you have written it in the form of a limerick, the treatment given to the subject makes it a bit sad and depressing. I fully agree with what Nosheen feels about the society's views about women. It is, however, a thought provoking poem. Thanks, Valsa ji.
Amazing write. Very profound piece. How the society views a woman determines the worth n status of a woman. This is so ironic. Some women are forced to live like ghosts. Their lives begin with darkness. This is the failure of human society. A great piece that speaks loud in just a few words.
A thought provoking limerick on woman is so touchingly inscribed. I am agree with the view of our dear poetess Nosheen Irfan about the forcefully life of women. Thanks for sharing.10
