Lilac Melody Poem by Bryan Taplits

Lilac Melody

I almost taste it still,
those Springs when I was young,
The air was clear, its taste so dear,
the winds whipped out their song.
Reviving times which once were new
Those times of length-
but never long,
The skylines and the dells perceived,
Cocky confidence, knowing 'right from wrong'.
Drat! These days the airs not as easily bought
What once I had breathed for free.

The lilacs sweet aroma
The dogwoods falling down
The grass so green, its canopy blade blue,
Hug me-
so I don't drown.
Recalling all my fancy
And reviewing all my thoughts-
But bank's of memories now receding
Of passed times (once new-
But now which are newly lost) .

Soaring past those days so dear
In my dreams that I love so
I snort a breath-
but it's not the same-
As what I breathed long ago.
I suppose it's over-ne'er to be found-
Past breaths so chaste-now done,
So I mount Season Spring-
To once more see its bling-
As once I saw-
in passed days when I was young.
I yawn and dream of melodies and tunes
And all the songs I once had sung,
Resurgent, I fly over fences, country-side-
New lands! …And again I'm young!
