Like An Army Poem by Barry Middleton

Like An Army

Rating: 5.0

night creeps through the trees
like an army stalking darkness

creatures of daylight vanish
the world is flushed with fear

evil forces bring a shudder
to the just and strongest of men

like a tide it rises on the land
till its march is halted by dawn

the world wakes to the light
the dark tyrant is vanquished

~~~~~
This poem chronicles the primal process of darkness and dawn
but is also offered as a comment of the banishment of tyranny.
One would like to see it as a prophesy that soon there will be a dawn for the evil spread over [the] countries.
I fear we have a very long way to go.
Great poem the opening lines are brilliant....reminds me of Yeats poem The Second Coming but your ending holds hope.
To be compared to Yeats is somewhat overwhelming. Thank you so much. I hope there is still hope but some days I am not so sure. I want it to be so.
