Light A Candle, Make A Prayer) Poem by alan brown

Light A Candle, Make A Prayer)

The darkness flowed around me
as the candle gave no light
I heard the trumpets trumpeting
but shook rapidly with fright.

I could hear the voices calling
but could not move my limbs
As I stretched my arms before me
to join hands with those within.

But then a bright light opened
and reached withing these walls
And gave us hope and charity
where sadness only roams.

So if your in the darkness
hold your hands up to the light
And join the throng before you
In the holiness of Gods might.
