Life On Planet Earth Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Life On Planet Earth

everything kills
we devour each other
eons of blood spills
from ancestors and brother
we are born of one mother

cycle of murder
DNA consumes it's own
death is the order
tear the flesh for crimson crown
slither into the unknown

feast upon corpses
program of predation
butchered carcases
monster of creation
wars and conflagration

sow and reap the past
chained to the enviroment
in a mould am cast
extinction imminent
though life be omnipotent

seconds of pleasure
ignore a lifespan of pain
sex is the treasure
ashes melt into the rain
only to transform again

battle of species
ruthless attack to defend
to become faeces
all your effort to expend
will come to nought, a dead end
