Life Is Too Short Poem by Bharati Nayak

Life Is Too Short

Rating: 5.0

Life is a precious gift of God
And we are sent to this earth for a purpose.
Life is transitory
It flows constantly
But may cease to exist
By the hands of destiny.
Every moment of present
Quickly passes into past
And every future moment
Becomes the present.

Within this short span
Let us try to shun
Jealousy, hatred and animosity
And live every moment
With love, kindness and peace.

'TRANSITORY': tran·si·to·ry /ˈtranzəˌtôrē, ˈtran(t) səˌtôrē/ adjective not permanent. Thank god or the devil or both that LIFE is 'TRANSITORY'! !

And WHO/WHAT controls/directs 'destiny'? ? DESTINY: /ˈdestənē/ noun the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. 'she was unable to control her own destiny' OR..(cont.)

Icont.) both 'hatred' and 'animosity' refer to a strong dislike or ill will, 'hatred' is generally considered a more intense and absolute form of dislike

Such a beautiful poem with so much wisdom. Your last stanza is the creed that we should all live by!

As you may have heard, I, Bri, do not (though I used to) believe in 'God' or god(s) . As for 'a purpose', is the purpose for human happiness OR for gratification for some almighty creator of mankind? ? Or is it 'something else'?
