By Mohammad A. Yousef
Life is a winding road,
paved with smiles and shadows,
days when the sun shines bright,
and nights filled with heavy thoughts,
time rolls on, like a train,
humming along tracks laid in sorrow,
but look closer, lend an ear,
you will hear the whispers of hope.
There are storms that sweep through skies,
the wind howls like a lonely ghost,
and despite our efforts to stand tall,
sometimes we bend, sometimes we break.
It's easy to feel lost in the dark,
to wear a mask of sadness,
to think joy is a distant shore,
but on this journey called life,
we hold the power to steer our hearts.
If you stumble, take a breath,
let your tears cleanse a weary soul,
for the weight of sadness is real,
but so are the moments of light,
when laughter cuts through the fog,
like sunbeams dancing on water,
guiding ships through churning seas.
Reach out, take a hand—
to neighbors, friends, even strangers,
for together we weave a tapestry,
each thread colored with stories shared,
pain and joy intertwined,
teaching us that to feel is to live,
that sorrow does not define us
but builds a bridge to understanding.
Find strength in the cracks,
where light seeps through the dark,
let it be a reminder,
that even the strongest storms eventually pass,
and in their wake,
the ground is still fertile,
ready to bloom with new beginnings.
So stand tall, lift your chin,
each step forward can hurl down walls,
life is sorrow—but it is also laughter,
and love, and dreams woven together,
embrace it all; let it shape you,
for beyond every heavy cloud,
its light finds a way to break through.
Though life is sorrow,
find ways to dance amidst the rain,
to celebrate the beauty in struggle,
for in overcoming,
we write our own story—
bold, vibrant, beautiful,
a testament to resilience,
and the unyielding heart of hope.
