Life Is Costly

By Mohammad A.Yousef

Life is costly,
like a rare gem sparkling in the sun,
or a cozy sweater on a chilly evening,
a treasure deep within,
woven of moments, both tender and tough.

It starts with a breath,
a tiny spark of magic,
each heartbeat,
a drum that keeps us moving,
through laughter, tears,
through dreams whispered in the dark.

Yet, we often forget,
in the rush of days,
the price of our attention,
the value of each sunset softening the sky,
the beauty of a friend's smile,
that can lift a heavy heart.

Care for it,
like a gardener with delicate seeds,
nurturing hope in fertile ground,
water the roots with kindness,
pull the weeds of doubt away,
let the flowers bloom, brightly,
in the garden of your soul.

All around us, life glimmers,
in the simplicity of morning light,
in the shared stories
over coffee, laughter bubbling,
life is like a fragile glass,
glistening, reflecting who we are.

Spend moments like gold,
weighty, precious,
for a life lived with intention
gives value to every second,
to soft conversations under stars,
to the warmth of holding hands,
to the joy found in quiet, serene spaces.

Life is costly, but each thread,
woven with care,
creates a tapestry,
rich and varied,
and when we honor it,
with gentle hearts and open minds,
we discover a wealth
greater than gold or silver—
the richness of experiences,
the love that we share,
the beauty in just being,
alive,
together,
in this vibrant world.

So, cherish it fiercely,
like your most prized possession.
Life is costly,
but oh, how beautiful,
how precious,
how absolutely worth it,
it truly is.
