(cont.) ....risk or risks? i guess you could use either, but if i were using risk, i would put a or the or? in front of risk. though i don't agree with your stated-philosophy, i'll send this to MyPoemList. i'd read more but i've been 'ignoring' plenty of poets and 'should' move on.............for now. bri :) i would use don't succeed, or do not succeed; the latter would avoid two don't s in the little poem.

Life IS a 'gamble' and some are 'better players'. some don't know when it is best to 'fold'......(fold is a cardplaying expression i think i heard in a 'cowboy movie' when i was a kid) ....rather than continue on a pathway which is not promising (or is 'promising' something bad for them) . there IS a time to 'quit' in my opinion. and i mean quit one or more of life's activities or even life itself!
