Things are certainly different
now that the "Corona Virus"
has raised its ugly head.
I was planning on attending
the Utah State Poetry Festival
this year, but it's been canceled.
My friend Hank Beuning and I
were going to compete in the
Utah Senior Chess Championship,
but it has now been canceled,
just as I am playing the best chess
of my life. I have played in two
tournaments this year, and taken
first place in both. People our age
have been advised to stay home
and not go anywhere, but what
kind of life is that? Hank and I
can't even go to McDonald's
anymore for our usual chess
games, because now McDonald's
is only open for drive-through
customers. Kids can't go inside
and use the playground anymore.
Parents have to entertain their
own kids now! That's not such
a bad thing in itself, but where in
the world, and how, will this all end?
You could always play the computer if you have a program to do it (or online) . I beat it 5 times in one episode many years ago.: -)
I have several different computer game programs, and play them often. I even have a couple of actual chess computers, but haven't used them for a few years. Thanks for commenting, Spock!
Kim, Yes I miss our Chess gatherings. We can play a game over the phone.. Perhaps, make 15 moves and have continuation games over many days.
I know that you and Scott play Fischer Random Chess over the phone now. One of these days we will play a game of REAL chess over the phone!

Superb, beautiful picture of the “boys”! So good to see you both, finally put faces on the poets that I love to read! Thank you so much; and remember fellas, you can still go out of doors, into the Mystery of the beautiful nature that is: Utah, all about you... peace...
Smoky, thanks so much for the beautiful comment. You're right, we can still go out doors if we can find a place without other people, and Utah really is a beautiful state. I love to be in the mountains. Give me a mountain or a beach, and I'll take the mountain every time (except in the dead of winter) !
