Life Changing Light Poem by Jeri Martindale

Life Changing Light

I know how wonderful it feels standing in the light, because I spent so many years walking in the darkness.
Gazing at it from afar desperately wanting to reach out and touch it.

To be rescued by the King of Kings was a song for so long I unknowingly screamed.
Little did I know you were also calling out to me, waiting to cleanse my soul, wanting to set me free!

The day that I sat on that cold floor was the moment I knew it was you that I needed.
An overwhelming feeling to call out your name, Jesus please save me; I desperately need your healing!

And you answered! ! !

In awe as your presence filled the room; my heart my mind, my soul, everything changed because of you!

That moment in time will be etched in my mind forever!
The day you taught me to forgive all those who had done me wrong and forgave me also for what I had done.

The day you taught me to forgive myself; grace and mercy washed over me, you gave me new life! You gave me new breath!

Now that I am standing in your light, I look back into the darkness.
My heart breaks for those still caught in the abyss, needing rescued, begging for it!

Your call to me now is to step back into that blackness; to tell those still held captive by it about your greatness!

To take hold their hands and lead them to your light; where their hearts, minds, and souls will be forever changed, this is the power of Christ!
