My scars i hide, my fair sides out. I walk and learn what life is about. life is precious live now so that we may die without regrets....... thank u dear poetess. tony
This poem came out of genuine experience and its truthfulness is obvious in every line. And there's not a trace of sentimentality which spoils much lyric poetry of memory to my mind. There is a double track of genuine experience the poem embodies: first, your memories of your life, and second, your meditation on the future while babysitting a grandchild. Memory and Projection, Past and Future - This is how we conquer Time. Wait, that's too aggressive a statement. This is not a poem of We Humans vs. Cruel Time, like Shakespeare's sonnets, nor is it fixated in a past we cannot recover. The title should have informed me: Life A Journey. You are at a way station on this journey, assessing how you lived the journey and wondering how the little one will live it. Janus-like you are looking backward and forward, without regret or fear. It took me a while to work my way to expressing in words what your poem had already impressed on my feelings. Your poem shows me why I value Lyric Poetry so highly!
A nice elaboration of the life's passage...... loved it. You can read my Up to you.
Hi Noreen, I love what you've captured here. To me, live is an eternal voyage in which we grow awareness, knowingness and a lifetime is but a chapter in that eternal voyage. Best wishes to you and yours over 2014. Cheers!
I walk and learn what life, s about. I've learned my lesson, s have no fears. could you, noreen, please explain the form of the contractions in the above lines? one i would have considered a typo; two i consider something i'm not sure of. are you teasing me? ? ? you are! OOPS! my error....the second one would not be a contraction, but, instead, a plural noun form. right? speaking of mistakes....i guess every honest person admits to a mistake now and then. some things in my life which other people would call mistakes, however, i would term misjudgements due to lack of experience and/or knowledge............like my marriages! it is so easy to SAY live well now and sometimes so DIFFICULT to do. though i've made some mistakes and misjudgements in my life, i still consider that i have lived well....esp. compared to many people. thanks for sharing. :) bri
Yeah conscience does make us pay! An aweinspiring perceptive poem, splendid rhymin too.
A very well written poem Noreen, which I enjoyed. I've never heard the term 'fair sides out' before, is it an Irish one?
Blessed are all those parents who warned, worried and prayed for their children; this is a really nice poem! Well done, Noreen!

It was such a pleasure to read this poem of wisdom! A wonderful poem with an appropriate title. Life's journey seen, traversed and told well. The last stanza is the best, the last two lines priceless! The note is good too.
Very true words, we all benefit from hindsight. Live life with a kind and gentle heart.
an excellent poem on life's journey. and oh the lessons we learn along the way. enjoyed this one
All that I can say towards this very fine poem is: Amen! So well stated, in such a wise way.
Life is a journey and many lessons we learn during the whole course. It's a nice poem with a good message to whom who are still at the outset of their journey.
I often wonder what life will hold for my grandchildren in their futures. Every moment of life is precious, more so now that I'm also in my senior years. Your poem says what I know to be true in my own life. Love this poem, it's so beautifully stated, the way you show the path to maturity by stating the past. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
Noreen, I'm just revisiting some of the poems on my favorites list...
